Dyfed-Powys Police Authority Are Here to Represent You!
Have you heard of Dyfed-Powys Police Authority? Do you know what we do?
As part of a national campaign, Dyfed-Powys Police Authority is trying to promote what it does to the communities it serves. Dyfed-Powys Police Authority’s number one priority is to ensure that you get the policing service that you need in your community.
The Police Authority is the independent body that holds the Police Force to account on your behalf. We are made up of 19 individuals (Members); 10 of these are County Councillors from the 4 Local Authorities in the Force area, 9 are Independent Members who are appointed following a rigorous selection process approved by the Home Office.
These individuals are here to represent your interests. They do this by holding the Chief Constable to account for the policing service that is delivered on the ground. They also ensure that you receive value for money, as your Council Tax helps fund approximately 40% of the policing budget.
The Police Authority is keen to talk to you and will be holding a round of public meetings in the last few weeks of February. These meetings will inform you what priorities have been identified from April 2010 following consultation with the public. They will also provide the opportunity for you to ask us questions and challenge us on the issues that matter to you or to let us know if you are not happy with the service that you are receiving. Keep an eye on our website for the dates and times of the meetings.
Mrs Delyth Humfryes, Chair of the Police Authority said:
“It is really important that the public knows what the Police Authority is here to do. We are your representatives. We need to know what you think about the policing service that you receive so that we can hold the Police Force to account on your behalf.
As residents of Dyfed-Powys, we as individuals also want to receive the best possible policing service and ensure that our Council Tax is being wisely used.”
